Special Track Proposal Instructions

Prospective chairs of Special Tracks are invited to send their proposals with the following information via email to specialsessions@tale2018.org by 13 April 2018:

  1. Description of the proposed Special Track (maximum of one paragraph)

  2. Explanation of how paper submissions will be solicited (e.g., Special Track Call for Papers, targeted invitations to selected individuals)

  3. Types of submissions to be accepted (full paper, short paper and/or abstract-only*) and estimated number of each type likely to be received

  4. List of prospective authors and paper titles (minimum of 6)

  5. Names and affiliations of potential reviewers for the special track (minimum of 3 per expected submission)

  6. Whether there are any plans for a journal special issue or other publication (e.g., edited book volume) arising from the Special Track

  7. Biographical information on the Special Track chair(s)

  8. Proposed timeline of key dates, including release of call for papers/invitations, paper submission deadline, notification of review outcomes, and due date for camera-ready papers. (Note that the deadline for camera-ready submissions cannot be later than 1 October 2018.)

*Abstract-only submissions are intended for the Practitioner Stream, catering to K-12, VET, L&D and industry presenters who do not wish to author a paper. These submissions will not be considered for publication in the Conference Proceedings or on IEEE Xplore.

All papers for Special Tracks must adhere to the same guidelines as regular papers, and will be reviewed using the standard criteria and procedures for TALE 2018. The Special Track chair(s) will be responsible for administering the peer-review process via the conference’s manuscript management system, ConfTool, in conjunction with an assigned member of the TALE Organising Committee.

All final decisions regarding the disposition of papers are subject to approval by the Technical Program Chairs.

At least one author of each accepted paper will be required to register for the conference in order to ensure the paper is included in the final program and proceedings, and the paper must subsequently be presented at the conference in order for it to be published in Xplore. Each full registration for TALE 2018 will cover a maximum of two papers, each of which may be presented as part of a Special Track or a Core Track of the conference; each student registration will cover a single paper only.

The deadline for presenting author registration is 8 October 2018.
