Special Track on Engineering of Learning Technologies: An Emerging Discipline

Learning Engineering involves the application of evidence-based learning sciences principles and methods, using engineering approaches, to the design and development of technology-enabled learning solutions, systems and experiences. The aim of this Special Track is to foster scholarly dialogue and ideas exchange around the establishment and advancement of the new field of Learning Engineering as both an academic and professional discipline. Submissions are especially encouraged that engage deeply with questions about what constitutes a 'learning engineer', and how academia and industry can best prepare these professionals to meet the educational and learning challenges of the future. (Note: As the focus of this track will be on definitional, curricular and industry-needs perspectives and issues relating to Learning Engineering, papers and proposals for presentations reporting on specific learning technology development efforts, applications and studies should be submitted to one of the other TALE 2018 tracks.)
