Beaches
Wollongong and the surrounding areas are filled with great beaches. The following are a few recommended locations.
Wollongong Northbeach
Northbeach is a few steps from the entry of the Novotel and a favourite for both locals and tourists. The beach is accompanied by recreation fields, walking tracks, kids play areas, restaurants and more. If you are staying in Wollongong for only a few days this beach will keep you entertained.

Plenty of space to explore and relax

Calm waters available north of Stuart Park or at the boat harbour
Cronulla Beach
If you are staying a little longer to see the surrounding areas then catch a train to Cronulla (swap lines at Sutherland). The trip takes about 70 minutes. Cronulla beach is the heart of southern Sydney and is surrounded by a popular mall and a great walking path along the beach giving you access to multi-million dollar homes and apartments. You can also take a ferry to popular Bundenna.

Bundenna
Bundenna is located within the Royal National Park. It is about a 70-minute drive from Wollongong or you can catch a ferry service from Cronulla. Bundenna is a favourite swimming spot for those that want to swim in the ocean but without the waves. It also has a nice scenic view of Cronulla. If you get there by car then make sure you also stop at near by Wattamolla as it is a very beautiful location.

Jervis Bay (Greenpatch - Hyams Beach - Murrays Beach)

If you hire a car and want to see some of the best beaches in NSW then take a drive 90min south of Wollongong to Jervis Bay and explore the many stunning beaches in Booderee National Park. Popular beaches include Greenpatch (bring some bird seed and watch beautiful wild Australian birds feed from your hands), Hyam's Beach and Murray's Beach. These locations have amazing white sand and stunning natural backdrops and you will be able to see many wild Australian animals. If you rent a house in near by areas such as St Georges Basin you will find kangaroos hoping around the streets.
